Come On Down
03:44
|
|||
No capo
verses:
G
chorus
C G D G x4
come on down that mountain
ya got 15 minutes left
don't need no shoes
don't need no shirt
don't need no sunday best
come on down that mountain
for the BLM PD
black rattler copper headed moccasin
get the whip-poor-wills to sing
come on down that mountain
live ya best life filled with love
valley & a holler
or a tree-squeek squaller
either way you're bound to have fun
come on down that mountain
where the foothills make it blue
fill your truck
wish me good luck
runnin' switchbacks beneath the moon
come on down that mountain
let the hurst get cooled off first
you can bury your pain
you can hide your pride
but if you don't pick you gonna work

All That's Left
02:59
|
|||
No capo
Am / C / D / E7
I’m sure you’ll miss
The girl I used to be
But she is dead and gone
We buried her at sea
I’m sure you’ll miss
The girl I used to be
We burned her at stake
And now all that’s left is me
Hunter aim your bow
Kill somethin' free
Take her skin
Take her bone
Take everything you need
From the earth
She’ll rise and grow
Just wait and see
My baby shot me down
Now all that’s left is me
I smell it on the wind
From the east
Them flames are rollin' in
And they’re burnin' down clean
From the ash, from the coal
Southern green
Them pines are burnin' down
Now all that’s left is me
All that’s left is me

Give it all I’ve got
'Till all my givin's gone
But if I’m speakin’ from the heart
I’m still lookin’ for truth
Stayin’ by her side
& always missing you
Guess I’m speakin’ from the heart
Still lookin’ for truth
I been stayin’ by her side
& always missing you
So that evenin’s comin’ round
I’ma need to make my bed
Hopin’ I dream of countin’ stars
While I’m wishin’ you weren’t dead
Yeah, the evenin’s made it round
I done made my bed
Hopin’ I dream of countin’ stars
While I’m wishin’ that you weren’t dead
Cause tomorrow’s gonna wake
& I’ll rise with the dawn
Give it all I’ve got
Till all the givins gone

Havin' To Roam
04:50
|
|||
Having To Roam
Capo on the second
Am/C/F
Such young blood
Followin' the heart
Unbridled
Adventure to the north
By the hole in ya pocket
Havin' the gold
By the paths of the kind
Havin' the road
By the just of the means
Havin' a home
By the ways of the wind
Havin' to roam
Grow your fear
To starve and to thirst
Let it die
Lest you be cursed

Wild Mosey

|
|||
Verses E
CHORUS
D / A / E
(guitar capo on the second)
verses D
chorus C G D
Chasin' that ole back drop
Runnin' through the black top
Aimin' past that graveyard
Findin' what that pain’ll cost
Gunnin' down that two lane
Just to learn how much them tides change
If ya talkin' how that road was paved
Our sweet dear lovin mamas pray
Mosey through the open wild
Pick and grin to make each mile
Baby won’t ya ease ya mind
Lord willin' we’ll be alright
Shake & shiver till the mornin’ light
We’ll make it back t’that ole Georgia bight
Baby every tear we cry
We’re savin' for that daggum Florida line
Fillin' up the money bags
With no reason to be lookin' back
Whiskey, smokes & crafty draft
We’ll toast to love & love that last
Wake on up, keep on gettin’ down
Till the saints come in with that trumpet sound
You could turn it up but we play it loud
Let 'em know we're out this town
Low beneath that desert sky
Them pack of coyotes always whine
If ya higher than that timberline
Them highways never save you time
Live a life that’ll make ‘em pray
Filthy, broke — yeah, the heathens way
If I die on this here switchback grade
Won’t ya please make that swamp be my grave

Soak your fortune in sorrow and gasoline
Drown your dream of tomorrow smokin' nicotine
Have a toast for success in someone else’s light
Here’s a bucket full of cash for wastin' all your time
Let me know let me know let me know you’re tired
Take the gold take the gold take the gold
And smile
This ain’t butter from us rats who fell into your cream
This ain’t hand to mouth cause cash rules everything around me
This ain’t hope that’s gone dancin' in the street like scum
Raise a fist, smash the state, turn up and have some fun
You brought to us side eye when ya late to the show
It’s bourbon and flower or this train just don’t roll
I’ve blistered my finger and I’ve busted my lip
This rounds on the town or this beat just don’t hit
Soak your fortune in sorrow and gasoline
Drown your dream of tomorrow smokin nicotine
Have a toast for success in someone else’s light
Here’s a bucket full of cash for wasting all your time Let me know let me know let me know you’re tired
Take the gold take the gold take the gold
And smile
This ain’t butter from us rats who fell in your cream

chorus
Bb / A7 / Dm
guitar Capo on the fifth
Am/C/E
F/E/Am
What you laughin' bout mama
Won’t you tell me so I know
Carolina done ran me dryer
Than all them dives back home
What you cryin' bout mama
Won’t you tell me so I know
That Florida sun has made me run
Much farther than you’d ever go
What you talkin' bout mama
Won't you tell me so I know
Them Georgia folk will show ya soul
How a poor man could wind up broke
What you lookin' at mama
Won’t you tell me so I know
Them Kansas roads have dug my grave
Much deeper than that six foot hole
Ooh, you ain't gotta clue

Day Late & Pennies Short
vese/chorus:
C / Dm / F
bridge:
Am / E7 / F / C / G
Am / E7 / F / C / G / F
guitar Capo on the fifth
G/Am/C
Em/B7/C/G/D/Em/B7/C/G/D/C
I left a show
And I hopped a train
On the fly
Now there’s gravel in my teeth
And blood on my knees
I never had a better view of the sky
But I still got my legs
And my brains in my head
So that means
That I’ll keep tryin'
I’m always a day late
And a few Pennie’s short
And I’ll be that way
Til I’m dyin'
He left that town
Yeah he caught a train
In the night
Had a forty in his hand
Pack of smokes and a friend
He told his momma goodbye
His bags are all packed
And the bulls at his back
So that means
He’ll keep ridin'
He’s always a day late
And a few Pennie’s short
And he’ll be that way
Till he’s dyin'
We left the bar
Yeah we walked the pier
In the night
Whiskey on my breath
And both scared to death
We thought it was the wrong time
We started picking strings
Divin' dumpsters and dreams
It’s uphill but we’ll keep fightin'
We’re always a day late
And a few pennies short
We’ll be that way til we’re dyin'

Let Loose
intro
Em/D/B7 (Em)
verse:
Em/D/B7
chorus:
C/B7/Em/D/C/B7/Em/D/
C/B7/Em/D/C/B7/Em
Let loose of your hold.
These walls are closin' in
On all of the dreams that I’ve tried to have
I’m drownin' in debt
I’m losin' my mind
I wish that I could just let loose of my hold instead
How much farther is the grave dear?
I’ve grown tired of gettin' out of bed
Just to get dressed
As these days turn to years
How much farther is that grave?
I’m countin' bodies like I’m countin' sins
All of my friends are dead or at ends
I’ve chose to be blind just to survive
I wish that I could open my eyes to the lies.

Darlin Corey
Capo on the fifth
Em/G/D(F#)
Wake up, wake up darlin' Corey
What's got you sleepin' so well
Them devils they are coming
They’re gonna take you straight down to hell
[Chorus]
Dig a hole in the marshland
Dig a hole in the mud
Dig a hole in that forest
I'm gonna carve darlin' in the stone
Oh the first time I saw her
She was sittin' in a boxcar door
A bindle over her shoulder
And her sign read darlin's poor
The next time that I saw her
She was buskin' on the street
A forty ounce sat by her side
And a banjo across her knee
The last time I saw her
Had a shotgun guarding her still Cookin' that corn liquor
Down the road from that paper mill

Lost it all when I felt that crawl
& I told the bull that I broke the law
Wait a while till it’s right
It'll make you smile & hold you tight
Met the man and I shook his hand
But I hit the sand when I felt the wind
Way cross town you can find 'em round
You can count that porch and hear that sound
Open eyes don’t find you blind
You say goodbye when it’s your time

The End
06:25
|

No capo
Em / D / C
(audio samples)
i have to say it's a new beginning
going to a cemetery funeral in florida summer
they say the end is up to us
my heart feels heavy and makes me think
there's only such a thing in a limited context
i wish i had forgiven myself more freely -- myself and others
words aren't enough but for some reason they're all i have
new sadness to that -- a bitter sweetness to that, because it's the one thing guaranteed in life
losing my mom
i hope that i'm somehow able to take control of the time and stay in the moment that i met you
you can taste the carnations and the embalming fluid
i know that you feel it too
i look over that edge every single day
it's inevitable
with a positive attitude
that sure was a fun ride y'all
whether good or bad
who but a fool would linger
everybody needs to grieve
it's something that we all have to go through
an opportunity to create something new
devastating
that can get you through anything
i remember feeling at my lowest
nothing is forever
it's much less distinguishable
the last goodbye is always the sweetest
at that point numb
wonderful
feeling like i'd lost everything and i'd never be happy again
like i knew when the last time I was going to see them was
barrier from sadness
those were the times that were catalyst
it moves you
i think i'll be okay with that
i just hope i get to see my father again
& i hope that today serves as a reminder
because there's nothing else out there
it's like you have to find your own true north again
stay with us
this is it we're here right now
i stop being happy and i start pushing people away
& you can do whatever the fuck you want with it
the connectedness of things
i wish i would've enjoyed more sunsets & starry night skies
it was just the beginning of something better
but the thing that is sad is that we don't focus on the moments before the end
there's always tomorrow
everything is eternal even things that end eternally will have been
but not now, not yet.
lyrics
Mustn’t complain
It’s all I could save
I’ll see how it goes
When I am away
I hold the flame
I’ll have it all burn
To ash with the wage
I have never earned
You say hello
How bout goodbye
Awful to hear
Had to survive
Crossin’ the line
I’ll burn for my sin
Kiss her goodnight
Have this be the end
